Epiphyllum Anguliger aka Fishbone Cactus aka Ric Rac comes in a 4" plastic growers pot, plant "trails" more than has height, ranges around 10".
Ok this plant is fun, look at those zig zagging leaves! Better yet, it is super easy to care for and great for a first-time plant owner. It has been known to bloom with pink and white flowers when it’s in the perfect growing environment. A natural trailing plant, this one loves a hanging planter to allow the foliage to cascade down.
When picking out where to put it, think rainforest. They love bright, indirect light, dappled direct sun is ok if you have something filtering between the window and the plant, like a sheer curtain.
While it is a cactus and can handle drought conditions this variety does prefer more moisture as it is a rainforest cactus. Will love a high humidity environment and a drink once the top inch of soil is dry. That said, it is still a cactus and you need to be very careful you don’t overwater and create root rot. A Leca ball bottom layer under the soil or a pot with drainage is definitely recommended. Non Toxic to pets.
This plant is so interesting! It’s shiny and cascades down the shelf really nicely. It arrived very full and healthy and is growing well.
I was a little nervous to order curbside, but we received the nicest specimen I’ve seen, at a really great price. Thanks so much Chive!
