Aglaonema Sparkling Sarah 5 Inches
Default Nursery Pot or Upgrade to a Chic Chive Pot
Our plants come in the standard nursery pot unless you opt for one of our snazzy Chive pots. Keep in mind, each plant is a unique snowflake—size, shape, and quirks may vary. We do our best to deliver a plant that resembles the online glam shot and will thrive in your home, but perfection is a tall order.
Pot Size vs. Plant Size: It’s Not You, It’s the Container
We like to keep things almost simple—plants are measured by the size of the pot they’re in, not how tall or fabulous they currently are. When someone says a plant is “in a 6-inches,” they’re talking about the diameter of the container, not the plant itself. That gorgeous fiddle leaf fig might be towering over your sofa while technically still being “in a 10-inch pot.” Height? Totally subjective. It depends on the plant species, its mood that day, and how mature it feels like being. So next time you’re plant shopping and wondering why your “small” monstera could double as a room divider—blame the pot. Not the plant.

How to take care of your Aglaonema
Low-maintenance, high-impact houseplant that can add a pop of color to your space, look no further than the Aglaonema plant—also known as Chinese Evergreen. This tropical stunner is beloved for its beautiful variegated leaves, impressive tolerance of low light, and almost bulletproof care requirements. Whether you’re a beginner or a busy plant parent, Aglaonema is the houseplant bestie you didn’t know you needed.
Care Level
Easy: Low Maintenance
The Aglaonema is often recommended for beginners—and with good reason. This plant is low-maintenance, adaptable, and can bounce back from a bit of neglect. It's basically the “set-it-and-forget-it” plant of your dreams (as long as you don’t completely ignore it for a month).
Whether you choose a classic green variety or a showy pink or red Aglaonema, the care routine is simple, making it a top choice for both homes and offices.
Light Requirements
One of the best things about Aglaonema care is its flexibility with lighting. This plant can tolerate low light conditions, making it perfect for those shady corners or windowless rooms. However, it truly thrives in bright, indirect light, especially the colorful varieties with pink, red, or silver leaves.
Pro Tip: Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, so skip the south-facing windows unless you're using a sheer curtain to filter the light.
Watering
Aglaonema doesn’t like to be overwatered, so the golden rule is: let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly when the soil feels dry to the touch, and make sure your pot has drainage holes to prevent soggy roots and dreaded root rot.
In winter, scale back watering—your plant’s thirst slows down in cooler months.
Humidity and Temperature
Since Aglaonema is native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, it loves warm, humid environments.
- 65–80°F (18–27°C)
- Prefers moderate to high humidity (40–60%)
Avoid drafts, cold windows, or air conditioners—your Aglaonema likes it cozy.
If the air is too dry, especially in winter, mist the plant occasionally or use a humidifier.
Soil
Use a well-draining, slightly acidic potting mix for Aglaonema. A blend of peat moss, perlite, and regular houseplant soil works great. You want the roots to breathe and avoid sitting in water.
Pro Tip: Adding some orchid bark or coco coir helps with aeration if your mix feels too compact.
Interaction with Pets
Sadly, Aglaonema is toxic to pets. It contains insoluble calcium oxalates that can cause irritation, vomiting, and drooling if ingested by cats or dogs.
If your furry friends are the curious, leaf-chewing type, keep your Aglaonema safely out of reach—on a high shelf or in a hanging planter.

Aglaonema Family
Aglaonema (pronounced ag-lay-oh-nee-ma, but we won’t judge if you call it “Chinese Evergreen”) is the houseplant equivalent of a low-key glam queen. It comes in a whole variety of leaf colors—green, silver, red, pink, even speckled—basically, it's serving foliage fashion on a budget.
Aglaonema thrives in low to moderate light, making it perfect for those darker corners of your home that other plants throw tantrums in. It’s also incredibly low-maintenance, tolerant of missed waterings, and more adaptable than your favorite hoodie.

The Self-Watering Pot Who’s More Responsible Than Most Roommates
