Hoya Pubicalyx 10 Inch - Potted

Hoya Pubicalyx: the plant that thrives on neglect. Just give it bright, indirect light and a sip of water when it’s almost dry. It’s basically the James Bond of houseplants—low-maintenance, but it’ll still steal the show. Don’t worry, it won’t judge you for forgetting it once in a while.
Default Nursery Pot or Upgrade to a Chic Chive Pot
Our plants come in the standard nursery pot unless you opt for one of our snazzy Chive pots. Keep in mind, each plant is a unique snowflake—size, shape, and quirks may vary. We do our best to deliver a plant that resembles the online glam shot and will thrive in your home, but perfection is a tall order.
Pot Size vs. Plant Size: It’s Not You, It’s the Container
We like to keep things almost simple—plants are measured by the size of the pot they’re in, not how tall or fabulous they currently are. When someone says a plant is “in a 6-inches,” they’re talking about the diameter of the container, not the plant itself. That gorgeous fiddle leaf fig might be towering over your sofa while technically still being “in a 10-inch pot.” Height? Totally subjective. It depends on the plant species, its mood that day, and how mature it feels like being. So next time you’re plant shopping and wondering why your “small” monstera could double as a room divider—blame the pot. Not the plant.

How to take care of your Hoya
Let’s talk about the Hoya plant, also known as the wax plant, porcelain flower, or that leafy gem you didn’t know you needed until it started trailing majestically across your bookshelf. Whether you’re a seasoned plant parent or still Googling what "bright indirect light" means, the Hoya is a houseplant dream come true. Follow this simple guide on how to keep them thriving.
Care Level
Easy: Beginner Friendly
Hoya plant care is relatively straightforward, making them an ideal indoor plant for beginners and those who enjoy admiring plants more than babysitting them. They’re drought-tolerant, resilient, and don't need constant attention to thrive.
Light Requirements
Hoyas love bright, indirect light. A sunny east-facing window is perfect. Some varieties, like Hoya carnosa, can tolerate lower light, but blooms will be fewer. For the best flowering results, give your Hoya plenty of light, but skip the harsh, direct midday sun unless crispy leaves are your aesthetic.
Watering
Water only when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Hoyas store water in their leaves and stems, so they’re basically succulents in disguise. Overwatering is their sworn enemy. If you’ve got commitment issues with watering schedules, the Hoya is here for you.
Humidity and Temperature
Since Hoyas are tropical by nature, they do appreciate some extra humidity, especially when trying to bloom. But don’t panic—normal household humidity will usually suffice. If your home is drier than a stand-up comic's wit, consider a pebble tray or occasional misting.
Keep Hoyas cozy between 60–85°F (15–29°C). Avoid drafty windows and don’t let temperatures dip below 50°F unless you want a very angry plant.
Soil
Hoyas thrive in a well-draining, airy mix. Think orchid bark, perlite, and peat-based potting soil. Their epiphytic nature means they hate soggy roots—give those roots room to breathe!
Interaction with Pets
Here’s the not-so-great news: philodendron plants are not pet safe. They contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can be toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
Symptoms of philodendron poisoning in pets may include:
- Drooling
- Vomiting
- Oral irritation
- Difficulty swallowing
To keep pets safe, place your philodendron out of reach or opt for pet-friendly houseplants like spider plants, calatheas, or prayer plants.

Hoya Family
Hoyas are a genus of over 200 evergreen perennial species that grow as vines or trailing epiphytes in nature. Their common nickname—wax plant—comes from their succulent-like leaves and glossy, often waxy flowers. While they’re prized for their trailing habits and beautiful foliage, let’s not forget those stunning floral clusters that smell like a tropical dessert tray.
