Fishbone Cactus 10 Inch Pot
Default Nursery Pot or Upgrade to a Chic Chive Pot
Our plants come in the standard nursery pot unless you opt for one of our snazzy Chive pots. Keep in mind, each plant is a unique snowflake—size, shape, and quirks may vary. We do our best to deliver a plant that resembles the online glam shot and will thrive in your home, but perfection is a tall order.
Pot Size vs. Plant Size: It’s Not You, It’s the Container
We like to keep things almost simple—plants are measured by the size of the pot they’re in, not how tall or fabulous they currently are. When someone says a plant is “in a 6-inches,” they’re talking about the diameter of the container, not the plant itself. That gorgeous fiddle leaf fig might be towering over your sofa while technically still being “in a 10-inch pot.” Height? Totally subjective. It depends on the plant species, its mood that day, and how mature it feels like being. So next time you’re plant shopping and wondering why your “small” monstera could double as a room divider—blame the pot. Not the plant.

How to take care of your Cactus
Cactus, your no-nonsense, drama-free, desert-born bestie. Whether you’re a notorious plant neglecter or just really into that boho desert aesthetic, cacti are the ultimate low-maintenance houseplants. But don’t be fooled—while they may be tough cookies, even these spiky icons have care needs. So let’s dive into what you need to know about cactus care.
Care Level
Easy: Beginner Friendly
Let’s be real—cactus plants are basically the introverts of the plant world. They like their space, they don’t need constant attention, and they’ll thrive with minimal effort from you. In short, they are perfect for beginners. Just follow a few key rules (mostly about light and not drowning them), and you’re golden.
Light Requirements
Cacti love the sun.Not kinda-sunny. Not medium-bright. Full, blazing, “I-live-in-the-Sahara” sun. They needat least 4–6 hours of direct lightdaily to stay happy and compact. South- or west-facing windows are ideal. If your cactus starts leaning like it’s reaching for the light switch, it’s time to move it closer to a window—or invest in a grow light.
Watering
Repeat after me: less water, more patience. Cacti are drought-resistant champions. Overwatering is the #1 cactus killer, so put down the watering can and back away slowly.
Watering guidelines:
- Spring/Summer (growing season): Every 2–4 weeks
- Fall/Winter (dormant season): Once every 4–6 weeks or even less
Always let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Think of it as tough love—they’ll thank you for it.
Humidity and Temperature
These tropical plants like things warm and slightly humid, but they’re also surprisingly tolerant of average household conditions.
- Temperature range: 65–80°F (18–27°C)
- Humidity: 40–60% is great. You can boost humidity with a pebble tray, humidifier, or by placing it in a steamy bathroom.
Avoid cold drafts, air vents, or placing your philodendron near radiators or heaters.
Soil
Cactus plants hate wet feet. That means fast-draining soilis non-negotiable. Use a cactus or succulent-specific mix, or DIY your own with regular potting soil, coarse sand, and perlite. Good drainage = happy cactus.
Interaction with Pets
Here’s where things get a little prickly (pun fully intended). While many cacti are technically non-toxic to pets, that doesn’t mean they’re safe. Curious cats and dogs could get a face full of spines, which can lead to injuries, infections, or emergency vet visits.
Some exceptions:
- Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera) is both spine-free and non-toxic.
- Avoid euphorbias—often mistaken for cacti—which are toxic to pets.
If your furry friends like to chew or swat, maybe keep your cactus on a high shelf. Or behind glass.

Cactus Family
Cacti are the ultimate survivors—plants built for harsh, dry environments where water is just a rumor. They're part of the Cactaceae family and are known for their thick, fleshy stems that store water like plant camels. Most cacti are leafless(because who needs leaves when you’ve got spikes?), and their famous spines are actually modified leaves designed to protect them and reduce water loss.
They thrive in arid regions like deserts, but many have adapted to grow in rainforests too (looking at you, Christmas cactus). Cacti come in a wild variety of shapes and sizes—tall and columnar, short and squat, even some that look like they belong in a Dr. Seuss book.
In short? They're low-maintenance, high-style, and pretty much the plant equivalent of "I got this."
