Curate Your Indoor Landscape With These:

Designed to layer beautifully in any room. Choose a piece as your design anchor, then build your custom pottery collection with these complementary companions:

The large Cosmos is a glazed ceramic plant pot with a center drainage hole and a matching saucer, and at full size it is the salt argument settled permanently, in glaze, where nobody can reopen it. The texture spreads across more surface, the craters and speckling read as genuinely cosmic rather than merely unusual, and the pot stands as a monument to a disagreement about salt that lasted considerably longer than it should have. Across a surface this size the cratering reads almost as terrain, and the longer you look the less it resembles a pot and the more it resembles a place.

Glazed ceramic holds moisture more evenly than raw terracotta, and every large pot craters its own way. Sized for a floor or a statement plant, it takes the room a decade of stubbornness earned it and asks no permission for the space. We still do not agree on the salt. We agree on this.

Potting Tips

  1. Repot in the evening.
  2. Wait 1–2 days after watering, then repot.
  3. Buy potting mix. Not backyard dirt.
  4. Move the top layer of soil from the old pot into the new one. It's a little ecosystem.
  5. Never go more than one inch bigger.
  6. Soil line sits an inch below the rim. Leca or small rocks at the bottom for drainage.

Pot Care instructions
  1. Dishwasher-safe. Can also be hand-washed with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
  2. Glazed pots are dipped and fired in the kiln — they are sealed, durable, and not looking for trouble. No special cleaning products required.
  3. For pots with saucers empty the saucer periodically. Standing water in the saucer defeats the purpose of having a drainage hole, which is a thing we feel strongly about.
  4. Not frost-safe. Designed for indoor use and covered outdoor temperate weather use. Freezing temperatures are not recommended.

Cosmos at Full Scale: The Argument, Settled in Glaze

At full size, Cosmos is the salt argument fired into permanence, settled in a medium none of us can revise after the fact. The craters and speckling that looked concentrated at three inches and atmospheric at five become, at this scale, frankly cosmic, a surface that reads less like a glaze decision and more like a photograph of somewhere far away. It is the most generous canvas the texture gets, and it makes the strongest case for why the studio spent so long arguing about a kitchen ingredient. A disagreement this durable deserves a monument, and we are aware that building one out of a plant pot says something about us we will not examine here.

We will, once more, decline to name names. We will note that the people who argued hardest tend to stand in front of the large Cosmos the longest, which we choose not to interpret out loud. Each pot resolves on its own terms, because the salt has never taken instruction, and we stopped giving it any. Underneath the cosmic surface sits the same centre drainage hole and matching saucer the smallest pot has, a reminder that even a monument to studio pettiness still has to keep a plant alive. The disagreement outlasted its usefulness. The pot outlasted the disagreement. We are willing, finally, to call that a fair trade.

Potting a plant with Chive

  1. It's best to repot your plant in the evening. Trust us, we know.
  2. Repot 1–2 days after watering — keeps the same rhythm going and won't shock it.
  3. Potting soil is not the dirt from your backyard. Go buy good, nutrient-rich soil.
  4. The top layer of soil in your current pot should be the top layer in the new pot too. It's a little ecosystem your plant likes.
  5. Never go more than one inch bigger than your existing pot. "It'll grow into it" is not correct, and you will kill it.
  6. Keep the soil line about an inch below the top of the pot. Add some leca or small rocks to the bottom for better aeration.

The Ultimate Repotting Guide

For those who have killed a plant. Or several. Or, frankly, many.

Before you put a plant into your new pot, you have to get it out of the nursery pot — a process that ends badly more often than any gardening influencer will admit. We wrote a full guide: when to repot (early spring, and not when you're feeling impulsive in October), which soil to use, how to tell your plant is root-bound, and how to avoid the three mistakes that kill perfectly healthy plants within a week of a well-intentioned repotting.

The Same Glaze, Other Sizes

Cosmos scales from a concentrated speckle to a full cosmic spread. The large is the texture at its most generous.

Drainage Is the Whole Point

A centre drainage hole and a matching saucer sit beneath the large Cosmos, because monuments to studio pettiness still answer to the plant.

Water It Like You Mean It

The Minute Large in Cosmos drains the way it should, which only matters if the watering keeps pace. A proper can or mister makes the difference, and ours look the part on a counter.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Minute Cosmos ceramic pot good for?

The Minute is a ceramic pot for indoor plants. It works well for pothos, snake plants, peace lilies, philodendrons, and small ferns and suits modern, boho, and minimalist rooms. As a large ceramic pot, the Minute fits a shelf, sill, or desk and pairs cleanly with the rest of the Chive pot range. This listing is the Cosmos colourway.

Does the Minute pot have a drainage hole?

The pot is sorted. Now what goes in it?

Shido seeds come vacuum-sealed, non-GMO, and packaged well enough that people keep the packets after the seeds are gone. Which is either a design success or a problem, depending on how you look at it.

Your new pot is waiting.
