Build Your Floral Wall With These:

Designed to cluster naturally, like a wild garden. Choose a flower as your design anchor, then grow your custom floral wall with these companions:

Above fireplace wall decor carries more weight than most wall art, because everyone in the room ends up looking at it whether they meant to or not. Oxford gathers seven ceramic flowers in olive green, oatmeal, grey, navy, peach mocha and lime yellow, named for the city of college quadrangles and libraries old enough to keep their own rules about candles. The palette moves from the Olive Green Echeveria and Avocado Green Sorbet Peony through the cooler Grey Goyet Azalea and Navy Blue Chalksticks Succulent, with the Oatmeal Hawthorn and Peach Mocha Cornflower softening the middle and the Lime Yellow Larkspur adding a flash of brightness at the edge. Every piece is shaped by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio, with reactive glazes that catch firelight in the evening. The flowers come boxed one by one, each with a keyhole ready for a screw. Above a mantel, the set reads like something that has hung there for generations, which is the effect a fireplace has always been asking for.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

What flowers are included?

Our design team picked these. It took longer than it should have — someone always has opinions about petal shapes, and at least one person was caught quietly swapping out someone else's color choices. What's below is what made it through. Click any name for dimensions, color detail, and close-ups of the individual piece.

The Story Behind This Collection

Oxford is the set we reach for when someone describes their living room using the word mantelpiece without irony. It is named for a city where the buildings are older than most countries and the students wear gowns to dinner as though that were normal. I visited once, got lost between two colleges and was too embarrassed to ask directions from a man in a robe. The flowers are less awkward than I was. They know exactly where they belong, which is more than I could say that afternoon. Olive Green Echeveria and Avocado Green Sorbet Peony bring the dense greens of an old college garden. Grey Goyet Azalea is the colour of wet stone after a long afternoon of rain. Navy Blue Chalksticks Succulent adds the deep ink tone of a fountain pen that leaks only on important documents. Oatmeal Hawthorn and Peach Mocha Cornflower keep things warm and a little worn, like a favourite reading chair. Lime Yellow Larkspur is the surprise, a bright note that stops the arrangement from taking itself too seriously. Together they suit the space above a fireplace, where their job is to look settled and permanent. The fire handles the drama. The flowers handle the dignity.

How to hang ceramic wall flowers?

One screw. No contractors. No drama.

One screw. One keyhole on the back. Ninety seconds and it's on the wall. The video shows exactly how it happens — no special hardware, no second holes, no contractor on speed dial. Whether you're hanging one piece or planning a full gallery wall, the hanging guide walks you through both.

Designed to Share the Same Room

The Japan Collection

Oxford's Avocado Green Sorbet Peony comes from our Japan range, and the rest of the set shares its quiet, earthy temperament. The Japan Collection gathers muted greens, stone greys and soft neutrals that suit a dark academia room, all glazed and shaped the way this set is. Visit the Japan Collection.

The English Garden Collection

Lime Yellow Larkspur is our nod to the English Garden range, where cottage borders and bright chartreuse take over from stone and ink. If Oxford is the library, English Garden is the college garden outside it, with fifty-plus ceramic blooms to wander through. See the English Garden Collection.

Grow Something Real

A mantel full of ceramic flowers needs nothing from you. A garden needs a little more, and foxglove is a classic of old English borders, its tall spires at home beside stone walls. Try Foxglove seeds for the outdoor half of the picture. Plant them away from pets and children, since foxglove is toxic if eaten.

About Chive Studio

Chive has been making ceramic flowers since 2004, long enough to know that a mantel is the hardest wall in the house to get right. It is the first thing guests see and the last thing anyone wants to redo. Our curated sets started because customers asked us to take that decision off their hands, and we have been happily overthinking it ever since. Oxford came together around the idea of a room with a fire going and a book half finished on the arm of a chair: greens, greys and navy with a few warm accents. Every flower is shaped by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio and boxed separately with its hanging hardware in place. The result looks considered, which it was, at some length.

Frequently asked questions

How many pieces come in the Oxford curated set?

The Oxford curated set comes with seven ceramic flowers: an echeveria, a hawthorn, an azalea, a chalksticks succulent, a cornflower, a peony and a larkspur. Each one travels separately boxed, with the hanging keyhole already in place. Seven gave the greens, greys and navy enough room to make their case without the mantel looking like a crowded noticeboard.

What is a good above fireplace wall decor ceramic flower set?

Good above fireplace wall decor needs presence without clutter, and Oxford's olive green, grey and navy blooms give a mantel that settled, long-established look. Ceramic keeps its colour and shape for years, so nothing droops by the second winter. I like a mantel arrangement that looks inherited, even when it arrived last Tuesday in a cardboard box.

What colours are in the Oxford ceramic flower collection?

The Oxford ceramic flower collection includes olive green, avocado green, oatmeal, grey, navy blue, peach mocha and lime yellow. The reactive glazes respond to changing light, so the greys go almost silver by day and the navy deepens at night. It is a palette that sits comfortably with brick, stone, dark wood and very full bookshelves.

How do I arrange the Oxford set on my wall?

To arrange the Oxford set above a fireplace, centre the Avocado Green Sorbet Peony and let the other six fan out on either side in a gentle arc. Put the Lime Yellow Larkspur toward one end so it reads as an accent rather than a headline. Then step back to the far side of the room. Mantels are seen from the sofa, not from the ladder.

Is the Oxford curated collection easy to hang?

Hanging the Oxford curated collection is simple, since every flower has a keyhole on its back that sits on one screw in ordinary drywall. Above a fireplace, check whether the wall is brick or stone and use the right anchor if it is. Otherwise you need seven screws, a pencil and a level. The level is optional, though your guests will notice.

How do I care for the Oxford ceramic flowers?

Oxford ceramic flowers need only an occasional pass with a soft cloth. The glaze is colourfast and waterproof, so dust or a little soot lifts off with a damp cloth. They do not wilt, fade or drop petals onto the hearth. That alone puts them ahead of most things people have traditionally propped on a mantel.

Can I buy the Oxford flowers individually or as a set?

Yes, each Oxford flower is also sold on its own product page, so you can buy them individually. The seven were picked as a group, though, to balance one another across a mantel. Taking one away is like removing a single book from a matching set. Entirely possible, but the shelf will look slightly offended.

What rooms suit the Oxford ceramic flower set best?

The Oxford ceramic flower set suits a living room with a fireplace, a library, a den or any room with dark wood and deep paint colours. It also works in a dining room lit mostly by candles. The common thread is a room built for staying put. Oxford is not a set for rooms people hurry through.
