What You're Getting

Default Nursery Pot or Upgrade to a Chic Chive Pot

Our plants come in the standard nursery pot unless you opt for one of our snazzy Chive pots. Keep in mind, each plant is a unique snowflake—size, shape, and quirks may vary. We do our best to deliver a plant that resembles the online glam shot and will thrive in your home, but perfection is a tall order.

Plant Size

Pot Size vs. Plant Size: It’s Not You, It’s the Container

We like to keep things almost simple—plants are measured by the size of the pot they’re in, not how tall or fabulous they currently are. When someone says a plant is “in a 6-inches,” they’re talking about the diameter of the container, not the plant itself. That gorgeous fiddle leaf fig might be towering over your sofa while technically still being “in a 10-inch pot.” Height? Totally subjective. It depends on the plant species, its mood that day, and how mature it feels like being. So next time you’re plant shopping and wondering why your “small” monstera could double as a room divider—blame the pot. Not the plant.

Indoor Plant Care Guide:

How to take care of your Maranta

The Maranta, also known as the Prayer Plant, is here to charm your socks off. With vibrant patterned leaves that fold up at night like they're saying a botanical bedtime prayer, the Maranta is the drama queen your plant collection has been missing.

Whether you're a houseplant newbie or a seasoned foliage fanatic, learning the ins and outs of Maranta plant care is your ticket to mastering one of the most eye-catching and entertaining indoor plants around.

Care Level

Medium: Needs some attention

Let’s not sugarcoat it—Maranta plant care isn’t quite as breezy as your average succulent. But with a little attention (and a humidifier), the Prayer Plant will reward you with mesmerizing movement and lush, trailing foliage.

Care level? We’ll call it intermediate. Not impossible, just picky.

Light Requirements

The Maranta likes bright, indirect light. Too much sun and the leaves will fade faster than your patience during a Zoom call. Too little light and the leaves won’t dance, they’ll droop. A happy middle? East-facing windows or filtered light with sheer curtains.

Watering

If you tend to forget watering day, Maranta might not be your soulmate. This plant likes consistently moist (but never soggy) soil. Water when the top inch feels dry, using room temperature, distilled, or filtered water. Tap water with high mineral content can cause crispy tips—yes, even plants are bougie now.

Humidity and Temperature

This is where things get real. Marantas crave humidity like we crave iced coffee on a Monday morning. Aim for 50%+ humidity. Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or regular misting to avoid crunchy edges and sad leaves.

Keep things tropical—between 65°F and 75°F (18°C–24°C). Avoid drafts, air conditioners, and any place your cat likes to knock over plants. Temperature swings are not the vibe

Soil

Well-draining, slightly acidic potting soil is the dream. Mix regular indoor potting soil with perlite and a bit of peat moss or coco coir to keep the roots happy and prevent dreaded root rot.

Interaction with Pets

Good news! The Maranta Prayer Plant is non-toxic to cats and dogs. So if your fur baby insists on nibbling leaves like they're salad greens, you don’t need to panic—although we still don’t recommend letting them snack on it.

Maranta Family

The Maranta leuconeura (its fancy scientific name) is a tropical plant native to the Brazilian rainforest. It’s part of the Marantaceae family and is closely related to the Calathea and Ctenanthe—also divas in their own right. But the Maranta stands out for its dramatic leaf movements. As the sun sets, its leaves lift and fold like hands in prayer. Can your pothos do that? Didn’t think so.

With its velvety leaves splashed in hues of green, red, and purple, the Maranta Prayer Plant adds a pop of personality to any space.
