Verte Does the Work. The Pot Takes the Credit.

Feed your plants with Verte, then set them up in a pot that makes it look like you've always had a green thumb. Nobody needs to know it was mostly the plant food.

Plant vitamins address the part of houseplant care nobody thinks about. You think about the plant — is it growing, is it green — while the soil sits underneath, getting quietly worse with every watering, never asking for anything back. A couple of years in the same pot and that soil is tired in a way potting mix doesn't announce: compacted, depleted, going through the motions instead of supporting a root system.

Verte Rx Plant Vitamins isn't a fertilizer and isn't trying to make your plant bigger — it's for the dirt itself, bringing tired mix back to something a root would actually want to live in. At 1ml per litre, one bottle stretches to roughly sixty litres: three or more years of use at a growing-season pace, the longest-lasting bottle in the line. Use it on a pothos, philodendron, or spider plant that hasn't seen a repot in years. The plant looks the same the next day. Give it a few weeks, and the soil's difference shows up in the plant anyway.

What people are saying

Why Choose Verte RX Plant Vitamins?

Verte Rx thinks about the parts of plant care nobody photographs, and nothing proves it like a product for dirt. Plant Vitamins addresses the problem most fertilizer companies won't touch because it isn't glamorous: soil that's been in the same pot for years — compacted, depleted, quietly failing the plant above it. This isn't a fertilizer and isn't pretending to be one. It feeds nothing directly and makes nothing bigger; it reconditions the potting mix itself, restoring structure a root system actually wants to live in, which is a fundamentally different job than delivering nutrients. That whole-system thinking runs through the entire line — feed the plant, yes, but also fix the water a cutting roots in, clean the leaf that gathers dust, and restore the soil everything else depends on. The dose is the lightest of any Verte Rx formula at 1ml per litre, measured with the printed dropper, which stretches one bottle to roughly sixty litres and three or more years of growing-season use — the longest-running bottle in the lineup, because soil wants occasional meaningful support, not constant attention. Two years of development went into it, all on long-potted plants that hadn't seen fresh mix in ages. The plant looks identical the next day. Give the soil a few weeks, and the difference climbs upward into everything you can see.

Pro Tip: Little Goes a Long Way

Feed during active growth (spring through early fall) for the best results, since that's when plants are actually putting nutrients to use.

Well-Fed Plants Need a Home Worth Growing In

Tired Soil Isn't Just a Houseplant Problem

Succulents sit in the same soil for even longer than most houseplants, given how rarely they need repotting, which makes them a strong candidate for a soil supplement too. Once the soil underneath a long-settled succulent has been refreshed with Plant Vitamins, the actual feeding schedule picks up with Cactus Plant Food 2-7-7 — the low, infrequent dose built for exactly this kind of patient, slow-growing plant.

The Full Verte Rx Lineup

Plant Vitamins is the one product in the lineup that isn't really about feeding at all — it's about the soil everything else depends on. The rest of the Verte Rx collection handles the actual growth side: a balanced everyday feed, an organic option for edibles, a propagation dose for cuttings. Healthy soil underneath makes all of it work harder.

Refreshed Soil Deserves a Planter Worth Repotting Into

Soil that's been sitting in the same pot for years, freshly revived with a dose of vitamins, is also usually a sign that a repot is overdue regardless. The Devo is a ceramic indoor planter sized for exactly that moment — moving a plant with newly-restored soil into a fresh pot instead of leaving it compacted in the same container it's outgrown.

The Quietest Bottle We Make

Pots have been thrown by hand at Chive Studio since 2004, and eventually the studio had to reckon with what happens to the soil inside them — Plant Vitamins is that reckoning, the quietest good idea the studio sells. The same hands-on standard has kept up its Chelsea appearances since 2012, then brought the studio back to Philadelphia this year, ending a ten-year absence, carrying its formulas into thousands of shops by wholesale along the way. Some products announce themselves; this one just works underneath, the same way a good pot doesn't ask for credit for keeping a plant alive either — it just does the job the studio already expected of everything else it made.

Frequently asked questions

What are plant vitamins?

Plant vitamins are a soil supplement rather than a fertilizer — they're formulated to restore compacted, depleted potting mix rather than feed the plant directly. Think of it as reconditioning the soil a plant lives in, distinct from the nutrients a standard fertilizer delivers to the plant itself.

Do indoor plants like pothos or philodendron need vitamins?

Any indoor plant that's been sitting in the same soil for a couple of years without repotting benefits from this kind of soil refresh, and pothos and philodendron are common enough houseplants that most collections have at least one candidate. It's especially useful for anyone who isn't repotting on a regular schedule.

How do plant vitamins differ from a regular fertilizer?

A regular fertilizer feeds the plant directly with nutrients it absorbs through its roots. Plant vitamins work on the soil structure and composition itself, addressing compaction and depletion that builds up over years, rather than delivering plant-available nutrients the way a fertilizer does.

How many litres does one bottle of plant vitamins make?

One bottle makes roughly sixty litres at the 1ml-per-litre dose, which works out to three or more years of regular growing-season use. It's the longest-lasting bottle in the Verte Rx lineup, since soil doesn't need the frequent attention an actively growing plant does.

Is this safe to use on a spider plant or other common varieties?

Yes, it's safe on spider plants and other common houseplant varieties — it's a general soil supplement rather than a specialty product tied to any particular plant type. If it's been in the same soil for a while, it's a reasonable candidate for this.

Is Verte Rx Plant Vitamins organic?

Plant Vitamins isn't marketed under the organic line specifically, but it's formulated to work alongside any feeding approach, organic or otherwise, since it addresses soil structure rather than plant nutrition directly. It pairs fine with whichever Verte Rx feeding formula you're already using, organic or standard, without conflicting with either one, so there's no need to switch products just to add this in.

Is this safe for homes with pets and kids?

Yes, at the diluted, ready-to-use strength it's safe for homes with pets and kids. As with any concentrate in the line, store the bottle itself out of reach between uses, even though the mixed, applied solution poses low risk once it's actually diluted and watered into the soil.

How long does one bottle of plant vitamins last with regular use?

One bottle typically lasts three or more years with regular growing-season application, thanks to the low 1ml-per-litre dose and roughly sixty-litre yield. It's designed to be an occasional, long-term addition to soil care rather than something you're restocking every season.
