One Card Is Never Enough:

Pick a favorite, then grab a few more so you're not caught empty-handed next month.

The question mark is load-bearing and it was placed there with complete respect for the situation. Nobody fully understands what just happened. A baby arrived — that part is confirmed — and two adults who were recently responsible only for themselves are now responsible for a person who communicates exclusively through volume and has no interest in schedules. The preparation was thorough and none of it was adequate, which is not a failure of preparation but a feature of the event. Everything from here is improvised, magnificent, exhausting, and correct. This card welcomes you to the improvisation with the only honest punctuation available. Congratulations, probably. Welcome, definitely. Sleep, eventually.

What people are saying

Congratulations Without the Clip-Art Stork

Every milestone in American life has been assigned a mascot, and none of them were consulted. Graduates get the owl in the mortarboard, hooting about how wise they've become, eighty thousand dollars later. New parents get the stork, a bird legally incapable of delivering anything. Retirees get the sailboat, drifting toward a horizon labelled "freedom" in a font last seen on a funeral program. The greeting card industry congratulates people the way a form letter does: sincerely, and about nothing. We made these cards because milestones deserve honesty. The diploma is expensive. The baby is loud and will remain loud. Retirement is recess with a pension, and everyone at the office knows exactly which meetings you will not miss. Saying so out loud is not cynicism — it's the whole reason the party is fun. So each card here leads with the true thing, letterpressed into cardstock with actual weight, foil-stamped like an award, and blank inside for the part only you can write: the memory, the debt figure, the cash. Congratulations should sound like someone who was paying attention. The owl was not paying attention. The owl has never once attended a graduation. You have, and it shows.

Round Out the Gift With These

Why does the music not stop when I turn off the car?

There is a companion piece for nearly every occasion in this rack. Why does the music not stop when I turn off the car? finishes the sentence this one trailed off before.

No one puts baby in the corner

When the baby reaches the quoting-movies stage, No one puts baby in the corner handles the reference and the milestone simultaneously.

Kale Vegetable Seeds

Kale vegetable seeds round out the welcome basket — nutrient-dense, practically indestructible, and destined to outlive every sleep schedule in the house.

Pressed, Foiled, and Blank on Purpose. — Chive Greeting Cards

Chive Studio has been marking occasions since 2004, and our position on milestones hasn't moved: celebrate the person, tell the truth about the event. Every congratulations card here is designed in-house, set in metal type, pressed into heavyweight cardstock, and foil-stamped — a production process considerably more ceremonial than most of the ceremonies it attends. The blank inside is deliberate. Graduations, babies, retirements, and escapes from bad jobs all deserve words chosen by someone who was actually there, and that someone is you. We just make sure the card looks important enough to survive the fridge door for a decade.

Frequently asked questions

Does it come with an envelope?

Yes — every card ships with a matching envelope, ready to write, seal, and send.

What size is the card?

Each card measures 4.8" tall by 3.5" wide — letterpress printed and stamped in gold or silver foil.

Is the inside blank, or is there a printed message?

Blank inside, on purpose — because you can write better than we can.

How does it ship?

Every card ships in a rigid mailer, so it arrives just as crisp as the day it was pressed.

Who designs these cards?

We do — every card is designed in-house at Chive Studio, the same way we've done it since 2004. No licensed clip art, no committee, no algorithm that thinks you'd also enjoy a golf pun. One of us thought of it, one of us pressed it, and now it's your problem.

Should I get gold or silver foil?

Whichever one you like — it's purely personal choice, and we refuse to invent a rule about it. Gold reads warmer, silver reads sharper, and the joke hits identically in both. Where a design offers both, pick the one that suits the recipient, or the one that suits you. They're not going to send it back.

What kind of paper are the cards printed on?

110 lb cardstock — the heavy stuff. Thick enough to survive the mail, the fridge door, and several years of being rediscovered in a drawer and laughed at again. Letterpress printing needs paper with some spine, and this has it.

Can you ship the card directly to the recipient?

Yes. Put their address at checkout and it goes straight to them. Just remember the inside is blank — if you want it to say something, ship it to yourself first, write the thing, and mail it like your grandmother would have. We press them; the sentiment is your department.

Birth Flowers, the Gift That Actually Means Something

Skip the guessing game. A birth flower arrives already personal, tied to the month someone was born, so the thought is built in before you've even picked the ribbon.
