What You're Getting

Default Nursery Pot or Upgrade to a Chic Chive Pot

Our plants come in the standard nursery pot unless you opt for one of our snazzy Chive pots. Keep in mind, each plant is a unique snowflake—size, shape, and quirks may vary. We do our best to deliver a plant that resembles the online glam shot and will thrive in your home, but perfection is a tall order.

Plant Size

Pot Size vs. Plant Size: It’s Not You, It’s the Container

We like to keep things almost simple—plants are measured by the size of the pot they’re in, not how tall or fabulous they currently are. When someone says a plant is “in a 6-inches,” they’re talking about the diameter of the container, not the plant itself. That gorgeous fiddle leaf fig might be towering over your sofa while technically still being “in a 10-inch pot.” Height? Totally subjective. It depends on the plant species, its mood that day, and how mature it feels like being. So next time you’re plant shopping and wondering why your “small” monstera could double as a room divider—blame the pot. Not the plant.

Indoor Plant Care Guide:

How to take care of your Philodendron

Whether you’re a seasoned plant parent or someone who once accidentally killed a cactus, the philodendron plant is here to make your life greener, easier, and a whole lot more stylish. With lush tropical foliage and a famously forgiving nature, philodendrons have earned their spot as one of the most beloved houseplants on the planet. Here's a quick plant guide to help keep them happy and healthy:

Care Level

Easy: Low Maintenance

Thanks to their adaptability, fast growth, and stunning leaves—ranging from glossy hearts to velvety lobes—philodendrons make excellent indoor plants for both beginners and enthusiasts alike.

Light Requirements

Philodendrons are tropical natives, so they love bright, indirect light—but they’re not divas about it.

  • Ideal: Bright, indirect sunlight near a north or east-facing window.
  • Tolerated: Medium to low light (but expect slower growth).
  • Avoid: Direct sun, which can scorch leaves, and dark corners with zero light.

Variegated philodendron types (like Philodendron Brasil or Birkin) need a little more light to keep their color patterns popping.

Watering

Philodendrons don’t like wet feet. Overwatering is a one-way ticket to root rot.

  • When to water: When the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry.
  • How to check: Stick a finger in the soil or use a moisture meter.
  • In winter: Water less frequently—growth slows and so should your watering.

Always use pots with drainage holes. Your philodendron does not want to sit in a puddle. (Neither would you.)

Humidity and Temperature

These tropical plants like things warm and slightly humid, but they’re also surprisingly tolerant of average household conditions.

  • Temperature range: 65–80°F (18–27°C)
  • Humidity: 40–60% is great. You can boost humidity with a pebble tray, humidifier, or by placing it in a steamy bathroom.

Avoid cold drafts, air vents, or placing your philodendron near radiators or heaters.

Soil

Rich, airy potting mix; peat, perlite, and compost combo. Moisture-loving but hates soggy feet.

Interaction with Pets

Here’s the not-so-great news: philodendron plants are not pet safe. They contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can be toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.

Symptoms of philodendron poisoning in pets may include:

  • Drooling
  • Vomiting
  • Oral irritation
  • Difficulty swallowing

To keep pets safe, place your philodendron out of reach or opt for pet-friendly houseplants like spider plants, calatheas, or prayer plants.

Philodendron Family

Philodendrons are a diverse group of over 450 species of tropical plants from the Araceae family, native to Central and South America. Their name comes from the Greek words philo (love) and dendron (tree)—aka, “tree lovers.” These plants are typically either vining (great for hanging baskets and climbing trellises) or self-heading (bushy, upright growers that make bold floor plant statements).

Thanks to their adaptability, fast growth, and stunning leaves—ranging from glossy hearts to velvety lobes—philodendrons make excellent indoor plants for both beginners and enthusiasts alike.

The Self-Watering Pot Who’s More Responsible Than Most Roommates

Remembering to water your plants is a noble goal, but life happens (and sometimes Netflix just won’t pause itself). Stylish, smart, and suspiciously more nurturing than your last situationship. Ryan the self-watering pot has a built-in reservoir that keeps your green buddy hydrated without you having to lift a finger—Making sure your plant stays alive even when you forget it exists. Finally, a Ryan you can actually trust.

Feed Your Plants Like You Actually Know What You’re Doing

Your plants called—they're tired of your "just water and hope" approach. Give themVerteRx, the premium plant food packed with vitamins and growth boosters. Stronger roots, lusher leaves, and fewer judgmental stares from your fiddle-leaf fig. Because even plants deserve proper nutrition (unlike your diet).
