What You're Getting

Default Nursery Pot or Upgrade to a Chic Chive Pot

Our plants come in the standard nursery pot unless you opt for one of our snazzy Chive pots. Keep in mind, each plant is a unique snowflake—size, shape, and quirks may vary. We do our best to deliver a plant that resembles the online glam shot and will thrive in your home, but perfection is a tall order.

Plant Size

Pot Size vs. Plant Size: It’s Not You, It’s the Container

We like to keep things almost simple—plants are measured by the size of the pot they’re in, not how tall or fabulous they currently are. When someone says a plant is “in a 6-inches,” they’re talking about the diameter of the container, not the plant itself. That gorgeous fiddle leaf fig might be towering over your sofa while technically still being “in a 10-inch pot.” Height? Totally subjective. It depends on the plant species, its mood that day, and how mature it feels like being. So next time you’re plant shopping and wondering why your “small” monstera could double as a room divider—blame the pot. Not the plant.

Indoor Plant Care Guide:

How to take care of your Ficus

Ah, the Ficus—aka the fabulous fig family. If you’ve ever wanted a houseplant with a flair for the dramatic (but also drop-dead gorgeous looks), you’ve met your match. But let’s not pretend they’re saints. Ficus trees are known to be a bit… temperamental. Change their lighting? Drop leaves. Skip a watering? Drop leaves. Think about moving them? You guessed it—drop. more. leaves.

Don’t worry, though. We'll walk you through how to keep it from becoming overtly dramatic.

Care Level

Moderate : Needs some attention

Yes, it’s a little high-strung. But once you get the conditions right and earn its trust (and trust us—it’ll test you), your ficus will reward you with growth, greenery, and good vibes.

Light Requirements

Ficus plants are basically influencers—they love bright, filtered light and lots of it. Too little light and you’ll see legginess and—you guessed it—leaf drop. Too much direct sun and the leaves might scorch.

Best lighting setup:

Place your ficus near an east or south-facing window, with sheer curtains if the sun is too intense. Rotate the pot every few weeks to keep growth even and prevent your ficus from leaning like it’s had a long day.

Watering

Watering is where many well-meaning plant parents go wrong. A ficus plant wants a consistent watering schedule—but not soggy soil. Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings.

In short:

  • Don’t water on a strict calendar
  • Do check the soil before reaching for the watering can
  • Drainage holes are non-negotiable

Pro tip: If your ficus starts dropping leaves after a watering change, it’s not ghosting you—it’s adjusting.

Humidity and Temperature

Ficus plants are tropical at heart, so they appreciate higher humidity. If your home is drier than a sarcasm-filled text, consider a humidifier or a pebble tray.

Ideal conditions:

  • Temperature: 65–75°F (18–24°C)
  • Humidity: 40%–60% (they’re not ferns, but they’re not cacti either)
Soil

Rich, loamy mix with sand or perlite for drainage. Moist, but not mushy.

Interaction with Pets

Let’s rip the Band-Aid off: No, ficus plants are not pet-safe. Most types are mildly toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. They can cause irritation to the mouth, drooling, and general pet displeasure.

If you have curious chewers at home, either keep your ficus out of reach (ha, good luck with a tree) or choose a truly pet-friendly plant like a spider plant or calathea.

Ficus Family

The Ficus genus (aka fig trees) is part of the mulberry family and includes over 800 species, most of which are tropical trees and shrubs. Indoors, ficus plants bring that lush, tree-like vibe that makes any room feel like a botanical boutique. And yes, some even grow real figs—but don’t expect fruit from your living room tree.

The Self-Watering Pot Who’s More Responsible Than Most Roommates

Remembering to water your plants is a noble goal, but life happens (and sometimes Netflix just won’t pause itself). Stylish, smart, and suspiciously more nurturing than your last situationship. Ryan the self-watering pot has a built-in reservoir that keeps your green buddy hydrated without you having to lift a finger—Making sure your plant stays alive even when you forget it exists. Finally, a Ryan you can actually trust.

Feed Your Plants Like You Actually Know What You’re Doing

Your plants called—they're tired of your "just water and hope" approach. Give themVerteRx, the premium plant food packed with vitamins and growth boosters. Stronger roots, lusher leaves, and fewer judgmental stares from your fiddle-leaf fig. Because even plants deserve proper nutrition (unlike your diet).
